Hello, I'd like someone to give me a step-by-step guide, if possible, on how to make a server, please? The guide, found here: http://crymp.net/faq_own_ssm_server.php, is outdated. I've tried making a server and port forwarding, but whenever I start the quick32.bat file it says in the console about not being logged into Gamespy and the server doesn't work at all. When I type status into console it shows my Computer name and doesn't show the server name, even though I edited it in the server.cfg. I've also been talking to a game host who still runs Crysis servers but they're using the old Gamespy method, they would like to use the new method as well.

The error message about not being logged into GameSpy is ok imho. Let's wait what author of SafeWriting says. What exactly do you mean with "server doesn't work at all" ? What i remember, the status command never showed server name, you must write sv_servername to display it. Have you tried joining your server and playing in it?

Yes, I tried seeing if it came up in the server list but it wasn't showing at all, and in the console it says upload 0 KB/s, so I don't think it was connected online.

Which server list do you mean now? The classical one in game menu, or the one on this website?

Classical. Also, like I said, my server isn't generating packets. It keeps staying at 0 KB/s for upload, so it's not producing any connection on the internet. Even though I did port forward, unless I did the port numbers wrong. I just used the port numbers inside the server settings file.

You can test if the server works from LAN, just connect to it from different (or even the same) computer.

How do I do that? I didn't see it come up in the local server list in the in-game servers either, and I'd rather it be online, not offline.

Hello, server.cfg in SSM SafeWriting package is outdated right now. New GS master is under development and it runs on unikarta.sk - just change "sv_master openspy.org" to "sv_master unikarta.sk" in your server.cfg and it should work. By the way, new GS master automatically adds servers using only old GameSpy method to the website/console server list. Server owner just needs to change hostname of GS master from old gamespy.com to the new one via modifying CryNetwork.dll or using "hosts" file or inside SSM. SafeWriting uses the last way (sv_master in server.cfg)

Thanks. Do you also know how I can get it to use the internet and not local connection? As you can see in my screenshot the IP is my PC name and not the public IP.

I just did another test, as you can see here it's in the local server list, not internet. How do I change it? I have sv_lanonly = 0
